UMCOR disaster response volunteers in the field
The United Methodist Committee on Relief has activated its disaster response protocol and is coordinating with local partners to provide emergency assistance.
UMCOR has deployed early response teams and is coordinating with annual conferences and local partners to provide emergency supplies, temporary shelter, and long-term recovery planning following a devastating earthquake.
"Our volunteers are trained and ready," said Roland Fernandes, general secretary of Global Ministries and UMCOR. "We are assessing the situation on the ground and mobilizing resources to meet the most urgent needs."
UMCOR's disaster response is funded by the One Great Hour of Sharing offering, which covers all administrative costs so that 100% of designated donations go directly to relief efforts.
