General Conference 2026

General Conference 2026 brings together clergy and lay delegates from annual conferences around the world to conduct the business of the United Methodist Church. This quadrennial gathering is the only body that can speak officially for the entire denomination.

What to Expect

Delegates will consider hundreds of petitions addressing church doctrine, policy, social principles, and organizational structure. Key topics expected to be addressed include:

• Revised Social Principles reflecting global input and contemporary concerns
• Structural reforms to streamline denominational agencies
• New initiatives for church planting and revitalization
• Budget and apportionment decisions for the 2027–2030 quadrennium

Registration

Delegates are elected by their annual conferences. Visitors and observers may register for gallery seating and access to the exhibit hall. Press credentials are available for media representatives through the UMCom communications office.
